Paradise Lost

We actually motivated and pulled ourselves from our terrace (see below) to go for a 4 hour sailboat ride around the island. Gorgeous!

Greek salad and chicken pitas for lunch. The food here is so simple and so delicious. I LOVE feta so I feel quite at home eating it as part of every meal.

And this is why my legs have stopped working. Our second apartment for the next half of our stay. Why on earth go anywhere else?

Afternote: I can not believe I was sitting there yesterday. We left Santorini yesterday morning. Landed in Athens and spent the day touring around after storing our bags in lockers at the train station. For someone who's biggest adventure over the last 8 days was walking to the market to stock up on wine and Spanakotyropitas, I was a little out of my element. Next, 5 hour train ride to Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We arrived at 2 am ready to sit for our 4 hour layover and wait for the train to Skopje, Macedonia. I don't know who thought of this brilliant plan (me), but it seemed to make a lot more sense at 2 pm over lunch in Athens then at 2 am walking by strip clubs in downtown Thessaloniki. Thank goodness the guard kicked us out and locked the station down so we decided to change plans and get a room for the night. Our train for Skopje leaves in a few hours. My 8 days of paradise seems like a lifetime ago. On to the next phase.

  1. Re-entry is the hardest thing, isn't it. It's why I rarely leave home these days.

  2. Haven't been able to find my former student in Croatia. Are you headed in that direction?
