We took a bus and taxi combo from Tirana to Montenegro. Another beautiful drive. Farmers using actual pitchforks in the fields to gather the drying hay. Hay is then piled extremely high on the back of old, 1950s looking tractors. Most of the farming appears to be done by hand. Something we haven't seen in a while and something you almost forget exists then you look at agriculture in America.
We arrived in Montenegro to what will be the first of many coastal Adriatic towns.
We walked high up onto a point overlooking the town and around the point to see the span of coastline stretching north.
Stumbled upon an awesome dinner spot with perfect sunset views and just as I was mentioning to Alex that it seemed like a frozen and fried seafood type place, our young waiter brought over a whole plate of fresh seafood to our table so we could select our freshly caught dinner. Nice.
Another beautiful sunset as we made our way up the coast to Sveti Stephan in our rental car.
The beautiful island of Sveti Stephan. The folks at Aman Resorts are busy revamping all of the existing structures to open a new hotel. Montenegro is the type of place when you pull up in your rental car to enquire about a room and they don't have one, they very quickly find you accommodation elsewhere. We selected a cute hotel on the hill overlooking this bay and although they were full they let us stay in their neighbor's spare room. It was one of our best experiences yet. The restaurant next door was fabulous (grilled meats, Greek salad made with local cheese and potato moussaka) and we dined on a terrace covered in grape vines overlooking the bay below. We're diggin Montenegro.
